Thank you SO much to everyone who was able to make it out for open house! I loved seeing how excited the students were to share their work!

Coming up Next Week:

Spelling:   Students will get a new list of words and a new menu. The menu and the test will be due on Friday, May 12th.

Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  We’ll be focusing on continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packets.

A new May reading log will come home. It will be due back on or before May 30th.

Social Studies:   We will be continue learning more about Chicago.

Science:  We will be starting a new unit in Science. Chapter 3: Ecosystems.

Mrs. Mandru's Math Class:  We will continue working with unit 7 with more multiplication and division and even some fraction work. We will have one last multiplication test for the year. It will be a mixed multiplication test and it will be on Friday , May 5th.

5/29 - Memorial Day (day off)

6/2 - Last Day of 3rd grade

Week of April 24-28

Today marks the halfway point of the third trimester of 3rd grade. Unbelievable! Please make sure to check your child’s grades online.  Open House and Book Fair is Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00.

Spelling:   Homework is due on or before Friday, 4/28.  Students will also take their test that day.

Please continue to track your child’s nightly reading on their April log.  They will be due on or before April 28th.

Mrs. Mandru's Math Class:  We have begun unit 7 and we will continue with extended multiplication and division. There will be a X12 test on Friday, April 28th.

Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  We’ll be continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packets. The children are loving the book!

Please continue to track your child’s nightly reading on their April log.  

Social Studies:   We will be having a Chicago #2 test on Thursday, 4-20. A study guide should be stapled to your child's packet. The packet can be used to study.

Science:   We’ll be taking a brief hiatus from Science.

Mrs. Mandru's Math Class: Our unit 6 test will be on Tuesday, when we return. Students should use their study guides to prepare. Then, on to Unit 7 (Extending Multiplication & Fractions.)

April 3-7

This week starts our PARCC testing. We will be testing Math the first week and ELA the following week. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a good snack!Chromebooks need to be fully charged every night and ear phones should be brought to school daily! 

We had a great time at the Shedd Aquarium! Thank you to our parent volunteers!

Social Studies: This week students will continue to study the Chicago Fire. They will write a story about the Chicago Fire from Cow O'Leary's point of view!

Science:   We’ll be taking a brief hiatus from Science.

Spelling: Students will receive a new spelling list. The 4 activities will be due on Thursday, April 13th. They will also have their spelling test on Thursday, April 13th. There is no school Friday, April 14th.

Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  After Spring Break, we’ll be focusing on continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packet.

Math: We will be finishing up our unit 6. A study guide will go home on Wednesday and be due back the following Wednesday, April 12. The test is scheduled for Monday, April 17th.
