Week of February 2-6

Happy Groundhog Day!

Important:
Please continue to sign your child's assignment books.
Thank you to those of you who have donated to the treasure chest! We really appreciate it! If you would like to donate extra toys/goodies from home to our treasure chest; that would be greatly appreciate it!

Spring conferences are coming up the week of February 9.  These are by teacher request only. If you feel that you would really like to sit down with me and chat, please check out Sign up Genius.  If the spots are all taken, please know that I am always available via email or phone.  Have a great weekend!

Spelling:  The pretest will be on Monday and the final test will be on Friday. If your child gets 0, 1, or 2 wrong they will be challenge and have two activities and cursive. If they get more than do they will have the regular work. All homework is due on Friday.

ELA:  We will continue our Traditions unit. We will be reading The Tooth on a Roof story and making connections this week. We will also work in small groups.
Social Studies:  We have finished DG! We will start a new chapter Chapter 3 Culture. Culture day presentations will be the week of February 9th. The planning sheet is due Wednesday.

Science: We have started chapter 12 lesson 2 this week and will continue with this lesson.
Math Class (Only for students in MY MATH CLASS):  We will be having the chapter 7 test on Wednesday February 4th and the X6 test will be on Friday.

Week of January 26-30

ELA:  We have started our Traditions unit. We will continue reading The Year of the Dog as a whole group. In small groups we will continue to work with the story Lightening in a Jar. We will be finding how this story is similar to Keeping Quilt as well as writing responses to the story. We will continue or daily rotations as well.
Social Studies:  We have been working on our Modern day DG as well as learning about our government. Our Modern Day DG test will be on Wednesday 1/28.

Science: We have finished chapter 12 lesson 1 in Science. We will start chapter 12 lesson 2 this week.
Math Class (Only for students in MY MATH CLASS):  We will be starting chapter 7 this week and the X5 test will be on Friday.

Week of January 19-23

Spelling:  The pretest will be on Tuesday and the final test will be on Friday. If your child gets 0, 1, or 2 wrong they will be challenge and have one activity and cursive. If they get more than do they will have the regular work. All homework is due on Friday.

ELA:  We have started our Traditions unit. We will continue reading The Year of the Dog as a whole group. In small groups we will introduce a new story called Lightening in a Jar. We will work on this story throughout the week and be connecting it to the story The Keeping Quilt.
Social Studies:  We have been working on our Modern day DG as well as learning about our government. Our Modern Day DG test will be on Wednesday 1/28.

Science: We have finished chapter 12 lesson 1 in Science. Due to the shorter week and spending some time learning about MLK we will not have Science this week.
Math Class (Only for students in MY MATH CLASS):  We will be working on finishing chapter 6 this week and the chapter 6 test will be Friday 1/23, along with our times 4 timed test.
