Week of April2-5



 

Wow, I can’t believe how fast Spring Break has come! We have one week off and the additional Monday April, 1st. Enjoy your time with your families!

Thank you for donating to the treasure chest! We have been running low, if you would like to donate treasures, please feel free to send them in whenever.

Math:
We will continue chapter 18-fractions. There will be a quiz over the chapter on Thursday, April 4. We will be concentrating on dividing by 5’s this week. The graded test on 5’s will be on Friday, April 5.

Reading: 
We will continue to review our reading strategies by doing guided reading groups. We will also be focusing on Social Studies and Science during Reading.

Spelling: 
This week we will be doing list 22.  There will be a pretest on Monday and we will still have the final test on Friday. But, there will only be a cursive page sent home for homework because of ISAT’s. . If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on the pretest they will have 2 challenge activities and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities) The homework is due on Thursday.


English:
We will not start a new English unit until the following week.

Social Studies:
We will continue our Chicago unit this week. 

Science:
We will continue our Space unit, chapter 10. This week we will focus on Lesson 3.

Week of March 18-22



ISAT’s are officially over! The students did an amazing job this week and last week with their ISAT tests! I am so proud of all their hard work!

We have an early dismissal on Tuesday, March 19. The students will be released at 11:00.

Spring Conferences for math students:
If you have not already been informed about a conference and feel one is necessary, please email me by March 20th.  Spring Conferences are scheduled on an as needed basis.  Thank you! 

Math:
We will be starting a new chapter this week. It will be chapter 18-fractions. We will also be concentrating on dividing by 4’s this week. The graded test on 4’s will be on Friday, March 22.

Reading: 
Next week will continue to review our reading strategies by doing guided reading groups. We will also be writing our essays on how to trap a leprechaun. 


Spelling: 
Back to regular Spelling! There will be a pretest on Monday and we will still have the final test on Friday. If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on the pretest they will have 2 challenge activities and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities) The homework is due on Thursday.


English:
We will be finishing unit 4 this week. The final test will be on Friday, March 22. The study guide went home and the best way to review for this test would be to do the practice pages in the textbook. (pages 162-163)  

Social Studies:
We will continue our Chicago unit this week. We will focus on the Great Chicago Fire. 

Science:
We will continue our Space unit, chapter 10. This week we will focus on Lesson 2.

Week of March 11-15




ISAT’s will continue this week. Please make sure your child goes to bed early and has a nutritious breakfast.  If you would like to donate some snacks to the class for the two weeks, we would greatly appreciate it.

The Prairieview PBIS team is extending a wonderful opportunity to begin the New Year with a community service project.  We will be holding a Food Pantry Drive at school for the West Suburban Community Pantry in Woodridge from March 11-15.  Boxes will be provided in each classroom to collect the non-perishable food items.  Girl Scout Troop 50251, comprised of third and fourth grade students from Prairieview, has graciously volunteered to pack up and deliver the donated food on March 16th.  Thank you in advance for your generosity of spirit and deed!

We had a FANTASTIC week of ISAT testing. Our class also earned a marble party for excellent behavior and we filled our marble jar! We celebrated with a class movie that was pick out by the students! Let's keep up the good work!

We will continue our Unit 4-Adjectives/Adverbs unit. We will focus on lessons 4, 5, and 6.

Social Studies:
We will continue our Chicago unit this week. We have already started some very exciting projects that relate to Chicago. We will be reading about the Industrial boom, as well as, The Great Chicago Fire.  

Science:
We have started our Space unit, chapter 10 This week we will focus on Lesson 1.

We have our first Chicago quiz on Monday, 3/4/13. The students will have the opportunity to use the book, as well as, their packet that we have worked on in class. 

Science:
Next week we will be starting our Space unit, chapter 10!
