Week of March 21-24

Coming up next week:

Spring officially began today so we are going to kick-off Spring Break with a "Think Spring Spirit Week" next week:

Monday 3/21 Spring Training Day - Cubs vs. Sox - support your favorite team and wear something Cubs or Sox.
Tuesday 3/22 Shades Day - wear your sunglasses and hat to school.
Wednesday 3/23 Think Spring Day - wear spring colors (yellow, pink, light blue, green, etc.)

Thursday 3/24 Comfy Clothes Day -Wear your most comfortable clothes to school - including pajama pants if you wish.
Friday 3/25 - No School
Spelling:   Three spelling activities need to be completed by 3/24 and the test will also be 3/24.  


Reading & Language Arts:  We’re continuing our third and final reading unit:”Stand Up for what You Believe In!”   We started reading The One and Only Ivan (together) this trimester.  The story is wonderful and I encourage parents to read it as well.  


For Read to Self, students are working on RAZZKIDS. This is something they can do at home on their Chromebooks for their 20 minutes.

We also  will be finishing our chapter on Immigration!

The students did an excellent job on their leprechaun traps. The class is now turning their Leprechaun Trap Planning sheet into a 3 paragraph informational/explanatory paper!

March reading logs are due 3/24,

Social Studies:  We will be continuing our Chicago unit.  We will continue learning about the history of Chicago.



Science:   We are on hiatus!

Mrs. Mandru's Math Class:  We’re continuing Unit 6 on Geometry.  This coming week we’ll be working with shapes and finding their perimeter and area! The test will be after spring break.

Week of March 14-18

Coming up next week:
Spelling:   Three spelling activities need to be completes by 3/18.  

Reading & Language Arts:  We’re continuing our third and final reading unit:”Stand Up for what You Believe In!”   We started reading The One and Only Ivan (together) this trimester.  The story is wonderful and I encourage parents to read it as well.

Leprechaun traps are due on Wednesday.  We’ll then write the “informational” piece with step by step directions on how they built it.  I can't wait to see them!

Mrs. Mandru's Math Class:  We’re continuing Unit 6 on Geometry.  This coming week we’ll be working with quadrilaterals and starting perimeter.  A checkpoint quiz is scheduled for Wednesday, 3/16.  They will need to know about polygons, quadrilaterals, and parallelograms.
