Week of January 28-February 1

There will be a half day on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Prairieview will be let out at 11:00.

The third grade spelling Bee will be on Monday, January 28.

Thank you for donating to the treasure chest! We have filled our treasure chest goodies!

Math:
We are testing on Chapter 6-data on Tuesday, January 29. We will also be working on our times 4, this week. There will be no Math on Wednesday.

Reading:
The students have finished their book buddies books. I will collect their packets for an overall grade. I encouraged the students to take their packets home this weekend and check that they have complete sentences and at least 3 sentences for their predictions. Next week, they will work with their partners in completing a written book report. This will be done in class all week. If it is not complete at the end of Friday, it will be homework. The project is due on Monday, February 4.

Spelling:
We will be working on list 16. The Pretest is on Monday and the final test will be on Friday. If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on the pretest they will have 2 challenge activities and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities) The homework is due on Thursday.

English:
We are continuing our verbs unit. This week we worked on lesson 7. Next week, we will focus on 8, 9, and 10.

Social Studies:
We will continue working on chapter 3-Culture. Each student was given a day that they will present to the class. The week of the presentations will be February 5-8. The students should all at least have a poster representing the country they came from as well as some real pictures or internet pictures. It is a good idea for the students to have note cards to use the day they have their presentations. They will be graded on both their oral part of the presentation as well as the poster/other extra items.

Science:
We will continue chapter 14-heat, light, and sound.

Have a wonderful snow filled weekend!
