ISAT testing will begin next
week and continue through March 13. We will have 3 Reading tests and 3 Math
test. Because we know the importance of these tests, homework those two weeks
will be lighter. I would love if parents would like to donate healthy foods so
students can have a variety of snacks before the test.
Spring conferences are
approaching. They will be the week of March 10th. The sign up genius
has gone out. These conferences are on an as needed basis and will begin with
Math students first.
Math
There will be a fraction
review on Monday. The following days we will be doing stations and review the
concepts we have learned in preparation for ISAT’s.
Spelling

Spelling for 2 weeks.
Reading
We continue preparing for
ISAT’s. We will be reading many stories and answering questions as well as
writing more extended responses.
English
We started our biography unit.
Students will continue to work on making a snapshot photo album of their person.
Social Studies
We have started Chicago! It is so exciting learning about this city!
Science
We will finish up chapter 14.
Instead of a traditional test, we will have an open book test on Friday March 7.

We will continue our chapter on Fractions. We will also have our times and divide by
9’s test on Thursday. Please be practicing 9’s this week.
Spelling
We will be on List 21 this week. The Pretest is on Monday
and the final test will be on Thursday. If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on
the pretest they will have 1 challenge
activity and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on
Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work.
(Cursive sheet and one assigned activity)
The homework is due on Thursday.

making a scrapbook to show the person’s life.

study and will begin biographies. Students will get to check out a biography
from the library. They will then have the chance to read through picking out
important details about the person. They will then be making a scrapbook to
show the person’s life.

Our chapter 3-culture test will be on
Thursday 2/20. A study guide went home today.
Science
We fell behind in Science so we
will focus on lesson 2-light this week.

celebrating our 100th day of SCHOOL! WOO HOO!
Friday is Valentine’s Day. We will
be having a party starting at 1:30. Currently we still need one person to volunteer
to help out with a game. If you are interested
please email me.
Students may bring in Valentine’s
Day cards for the class, however please just have them write their name only on
them. This way we can put one in each person’s bag and they will not be
specifically addressed.
Math
We will be moving to chapter
10:Fractions. We will start by making fraction rulers and talking about
Fraction words. We will then focus on lesson 1 of fractions.

There is a vocabulary quiz over the
words on Wednesday 2/12. We will also be working with the story to
write extended responses in preparation for ISAT’s.

We have started writing our own
autobiographies in class. We will continue writing them this week. When we
finish our rough drafts, we will be typing them on google docs.
Social Studies
We will continue our chapter 3 culture chapter this week. The final test is
scheduled for Feb. 20th.
Science
We have started chapter 14: Heat,
light, and Sound. We will focus on lesson 2:light this week.
