Week of April 29-May 3

 

We had a wonderful turn out at open house! It was great to see all the families and the students! I hope you had a great time seeing all the things we have accomplished!

Next week begins our last round of MAP’s testing. The Reading test will be on Tuesday at 8:05 and the Math test will be on Wednesday at 9:15. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a healthy breakfast so they are ready for the tests.

We have started Junior Achievement. We have had the opportunity to have Mrs. M come to our class once a week to teach us all about our city.

Thank you for donating to the treasure chest! We have been running low, if you would like to donate treasures, please feel free to send them in whenever.

Math:
We will be having a test on chapter 14 on Wednesday, May 1. Students can study their packets over the weekend. Another great way to study is: draw various types of triangles and quadrilaterals and have your child name all the names for those figures. We will also be starting divide by 9’s. The test for divide by 9 will be Friday, May 3.

Reading: 
We will be starting our poetry unit next week as well as finishing up writing our letters to the second graders. Students will get new poetry vocab words on Wednesday. There will be a vocab quiz the following week.

Spelling: 
We are all DONE with Spelling. WOO HOO!

English:
We will be testing on unit 6: Pronouns on Friday May 3. A great study tool for this test is the text pages 232-235 and 241-247.

Social Studies:
We will be finishing up our last third of the Chicago unit. 

Science:
We will be continuing with Chapter 1- getting ready for Science. We will finish up lesson 2 next week.

Week of April 29-May 3

Thank you for donating to the treasure chest! We have been running low, if you would like to donate treasures, please feel free to send them in whenever.

Math:
We will be starting chapter 14: Line Segments and Angles next week. We will also be starting divide by 8’s. The test for divide by 8 will be Friday, May 3.

Reading: 
We will continue guided reading this week, as well as using this time to start our friendly letter writing unit. We will soon be writing to the second graders! 

Spelling: 
This week we will be doing list 26.  There will be a pretest on Monday and we will have the final test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Three assigned activities) The homework is due on Thursday.


English:
We have started unit 6-pronouns. We will continue with lesson 4, 5, and 6.

Social Studies:
The Chicago #2 (not open book quiz) will be on Monday 4/22. We went over the study guide and filled in the answers. The students should use that and their packets to study. We will start our final part of the Chicago book on Tuesday.   

Science:
We will start Chapter 1- getting ready for Science on Tuesday.

Week of April 15-19





Back to a full week of SCHOOL!

Math:
We will be finishing up chapter 19 decimals this week. There will be a test on Friday 4-19. The test on 7’s will be Friday, 4-19.

Reading: 
We will focus this week on non-fiction texts as well as continue guided reading. 

Spelling: 
This week we will be doing list 24.  There will be a pretest on Monday and we will have the final test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities) The homework is due on Thursday.


English:
We will be starting unit 6-pronouns on Monday with lesson 1. We will also do lessons 2 and 3 this week.

Social Studies:
We will jump back into working on our Chicago book and packets. The next Chicago quiz (#2) will be scheduled for Monday, 4-22. They will receive a study guide and the students can use their packets to study as well. This one will not be open book. 

Science:
We will be testing on Chapter 10 Space this week. The test is on Tuesday, 4-16.

Week of April 8-12

We made it back for a 4 day week after break and now we only have a three day week next week! The students are off of school on Tuesday and Friday.

Conference week is this week for Math parents/teachers! I can’t wait to meet everyone!

Just a reminder April 18 is open house from 6:30-8:00.

Math:
We are finished with fractions and have started decimals. We will continue working  on chapter 19 decimals. This week will be our divided by 6’s. The test on 6’s will be Thursday, 4/11

Reading: 
We will focus this week on non-fiction texts as well as continue guided reading. 

Spelling: 
This week we will be doing list 23.  There will be a pretest on Monday and we will have the final test on Thursday. The students will only have the cursive page and ABC order for homework due to the short week. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities) The homework is due on Thursday.


English:
We will be taking a pretest on unit 6-pronouns on Monday. We will start the unit the following week.

Social Studies:
We will continue our Chicago unit this week. 

Science:
We will continue our Space unit and be working on a group project creating and describing a planet.
