I am so thankful for wonderful students who come into school each day eager to learn and happy to be at school!

Please continue to sign your child's assignment books.

No school Wednesday, November 27-Friday, November 29 for Thanksgiving Break.

Math
We will continue division for the remainder of the week. There will be a chapter test on Chapter 5 Division on Friday, December 6. A review will go home on Wednesday and that will be a great study tool. The review is due back on Friday.

Spelling
We will be on List 12 this week. The Pretest is on Monday and the final test will be on Friday. If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on the pretest they will have 2  challenge activities and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities)  The homework is due on Thursday.

Reading
We will be working with the skill visualizing. We will read the story Dogzilla to help us visualize. There will be a vocab quiz on Friday over the words from the story. We will also continue with our Daily rotation to help us become better readers and writers.

English
We will start a new unit: Unit 3 Verbs. The pretest will be on Tuesday and we will work with lessons 1-3.

Social Studies
 We will continue learning about our Modern Day Downers Grove. We had a blast on the field trip and it was awesome to have such great chaperons participating!

Science
We will start our Matter unit this week and focus on lesson 1.

Spelling
No spelling this week due to the short week.

Reading
We will start up again with our Daily 5 rotations. We will be reading a story call The Keeping Quilt and looking at author’s purpose. There will be a vocab quiz on the words from the story on Friday 11-22.

English
We will be having a review for our English test on Monday. The unit 2 Test will be on Tuesday 11/26.

Social Studies
 We have started learning about our Modern Day Downers Grove. We will continue that after break.

Science
We will start our Matter unit after break.

Early Dismissal Day: Wednesday, November 20 at 11:00.

DG field Trip Friday, November 22. Please have your child dress appropriately for the weather.

Math
We will begin our new unit, division. We will start by learning what division means and how we get our quotient. Then we will be relating division to subtraction. There will be no Math on Friday due to the DG field Trip.

Spelling

We will be working on the strategy cause and effect. We will be reading If you Take a Mouse to School. We will then be doing some activities with cause and effect.

We will continue with unit 2-nouns. We will be focusing on lessons 4-6.

Social Studies

We will continue to study Downers Grove. Our field trip for Downers Grove is scheduled for November 22. Please make sure the permission slip and money for pizza is turned in by November 13^th.


Science
We will be finishing chapter 9-weather. The final test will be on Thursday, November 14. The study guide went home Thursday 11-7.

Friday, November 8-No Schol
Monday, November 11-No School

All parent teacher conferences are held on Wednesday and Thursday for our class. If you forgot your time, please email me and I can let you know! See you soon!

We had a blast on Halloween! Thank you for all the parents that came and helped our party run so smoothly. Also, thank you to the parents who donated goodies for our party! They were yummy!


Math
We will continue with multiplication. We will be reviewing grouping, arrays, and repeated addition. We will also go over problem solving using multiplication.

Spelling
We will be on List 10 this week. The Pretest is on Monday and the final test will be on Thursday. If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on the pretest they will have2  challenge activities and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on Thursday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and two assigned activities)  The homework is due on Thursday along with the test because of the short week.)

Reading
We will have a quiz over the Cliffhanger vocab words on Tuesday, November 5.  We will also continue working with the skill inferring.

English

We are finished with the pretest on Unit 2 nouns. We will begin with lesson 1- what are nouns, and work with lessons 2 and 3.

Social Studies

We will continue to study Downers Grove. Our field trip for Downers Grove is scheduled for November 22. The permission slips will go home on Monday 11-4. Please bring those in as soon as possible. Also, we will need parent volunteers for that trip. Please email me if you are interested on going (from 9:00-2:00). I will collect the names and just randomly choose volunteers if we get more than we need.

Science
We will continue to study Chapter 9- the water cycle. We will be focusing on lesson 3 this week.
