No school Friday, February 28, 2014.
ISAT testing will begin the week of March 3 and continue through March 13. We will have 3 Reading tests and 3 Math test. Because we know the importance of these tests, homework those two weeks will be lighter. From now until the tests we will be doing a lot of preparation so the students feel well prepared. As the tests approach, I would love if parents would like to donate healthy foods so students can have a variety of snacks before the test.
Spring conferences are approaching. They will be the week of March 10th. The sign up genius will go out on Wednesday. These conferences are on an as needed basis and will begin with Math students first.
Math
We will continue our chapter on Fractions. We will also have our times and divide by 9’s test on Thursday. Please be practicing 9’s this week.
Spelling
We will be on List 21 this week. The Pretest is on Monday and the final test will be on Thursday. If your child gets 0,1, or 2 wrong on the pretest they will have 1 challenge activity and the cursive sheet, they have the option to take the test on Friday. If they get more than 2 words wrong, they will have the regular work. (Cursive sheet and one assigned activity) The homework is due on Thursday.
Reading
We will be preparing for ISAT’s. We will be reading many stories and answering questions as well as writing more extended responses.
English
We started our biography unit. Students have been reading through picking out important details about the person. They will then be making a scrapbook to show the person’s life.
Social Studies
We will begin our Chicago unit! This is a very exciting unit to study!
Science
We will begin next week with lesson 3 of chapter 14.
