Week of September 19-23

Happy Friday everyone!   I just want to remind you all to check your child’s assignment notebook (planner) every night and sign it.
A note is coming home on Monday regarding Johnny Appleseed’s birthday on September 26.  If you are willing to send in some apple juice boxes, bowls, or spoons for our applesauce, please email me.

Mrs. Mandru's MATH:  We have started our third module this week and will continue next week. This unit has a total of four modules. The test is anticipated for the last week of September. Students will get a study guide to help them prepare for the test. Monday, 9/19 students will have another in class checkpoint. This has to do with measurement and equations.

Social Science: The continents and Oceans quiz will be Tuesday, 9/20. After, we will spend one day talking about hemispheres, but not test on it. The following week we will move to Science: The water cycle!

Reading/ELA: We will continue writer's workshop next week. We will be developing one of our stories and getting it ready to be published! As for reading, we will talk more about fables and read Tortoise and the Hare.
Spelling:   The students are taking their first spelling test today.  They will need to spell 13 words and write 2 sentences using any 2 of their words.  A new “sort” list is coming home on Monday.  Homework (3 items on the menu, 1 from each column) will be due on or before 9/30.  A test will also occur on that day.

Important Dates:
9/26- Johnny Appleseed's Birthday
9/27 - Early Dismissal

GOOO BEARS!
